Digital Media Experiences

Digital Media Experiences is a studio-style course that introduces students to disciplines including digital photography, videography, animation, digital illustration, 2D and 3D computer graphics, and digital collaging. This course explores the materials, techniques, processes, history, contemporary practices, and language of art. Students will develop individual direction with art projects as they learn about the Artistic Behaviors and apply them to their art-making. This course places a strong emphasis on the creative process and inventive problem-solving. Students will enhance their critical thinking skills through critiques, class discussions, and reflection.

Students explored portraiture and storytelling techniques by giving context to a photograph with props, setting, color, and lighting.

After learning about the Gee's Bend Quilting Collective, students created hybrid digital "quilts" using images of their experimental paintings to create a new image that tells a story.
