2nd Grade
Nick Cave Inspired Noise Necklaces
Second grade students learned about performance/sound art through the work of artist Nick Cave. They will use found objects to create their own noise necklaces inspired by his Soundsuit series, as well as put on collaborative performances which they will choreograph with their peers.
3rd Grade
Obliteration Wall
Students learned about interactive art through the artist Yayoi Kusama and participated in a collaborative painting inspired by her installation Obliteration Room.
Every 3rd grade student added one dot to the wall each day they came to art class over a period of seven weeks.
Kindergarten
Self Portraits
Kindergarten students learned about self-portraits while exploring different textures. They engaged in exploration and imaginative play with materials while demonstrating the proper placement of facial features.
1st Grade
Plant Collage
Students created cut paper collages inspired by artist Jonas Wood. They learned the difference between representational and abstract designs while creating watercolor paintings which served as the vases for their plants to sit in.
