Advanced Visual Studies (I-II) is designed for the SMS student who is seriously interested in applying their art-making skills creatively as they develop a portfolio of work that represents their unique artistic vision. Students who enroll in ADV VS must have a strong technical skillset, put forward generous effort, and continuously reflect on their processes in the pursuit of improving their current level of ability. In this course, students will devise and develop a body of work that will be presented at an end of the year showcase which they will plan and host with their peers. This body of work must include ten works of art that follow a consistent theme, as well as five works of art that display their breadth of ability. Students are expected to keep an artist website that is updated regularly throughout the course to include their progress and exhibit their finished artwork.
